The ever-popular Barn Night at the Washington International Horse Show (WIHS), presented by MARS EQUESTRIAN™, will return to Capital One Arena as a highlight of the event on Thursday, October 24. WIHS welcomes local barns and horse enthusiasts of all ages to attend for an evening of fun and exciting jumping competition, presented by BarnManager, Charles Owen, The Clothes Horse, The Equiery, The Saddlery, Springtime Inc, United Metro Golf Cart, and US Equestrian. Get ready for Barn Night 2019!
Competition and equine-themed entertainment will be at their peak during Barn Night 2019. Highlighting the schedule is the $50,000 International Jumper Welcome Stake, WIHS Shetland Pony Steeplechase Championship Series, presented by Charles Owen, $36,000 International Jumper Accumulator Costume Class, and much more!
Local barns, equestrian groups, teams, and horse enthusiasts are invited to take part in Barn Night activities, which begins on the Capital One Arena concourse at 6 p.m., featuring this year’s Concourse Trick or Treat presented by Snickers®. Make sure to register your barn to participate in group contests, including Group Spirit, Group Banner, Group Video, Farthest Traveled Group and Largest Group (Maryland, Virginia, D.C./Other, and Overall). This year’s theme ‘Halloween on Horseback’ and visitors are encouraged to dress up in their favorite costume, show their spirit, and bring a big cheer!

Aaron Vale, a top Grand Prix rider in North America and trainer at Thinks Like A Horse based in Williston, FL, has been selected to teach a clinic for the winner of the Group Video Contest, sponsored by BarnManager. Vale has represented the United States in international show jumping and is a six-time winner of the Puissance at WIHS.

Barn Night registration forms are due Monday, October 14. Barns that register early – by October 1 – will be entered automatically in a raffle for a chance to win a $250 Dover Saddlery Gift Certificate thanks to US Equestrian. The winner will be announced October 14 on the WIHS Facebook and Instagram.
In addition to in-ring events, the sixth annual Buck Breast Cancer Benefit, in support of Capital Breast Care Center, will be held Thursday, October 24, during Barn Night. Guests are invited to get in the spirit and support the cause by wearing pink and celebrating the lives of survivors, friends and family at 7 p.m. in the Stella Lounge VIP Club at Capital One Arena. Tickets are $250 (best reserved seats) or $150 per person, and include dinner, an open bar and arena seating. Party tickets available now at WIHS.org/social-events/ and on Ticketmaster.com.
